New Moon trailer whets appetite

A new trailer for the upcoming Twilight Saga installment "New Moon" was revealed at the VMA's last night. Stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson were on hand to introduce the clip, Stewart, according to MTV.com "barely recognisable" in a sparkly frock, pointed toed stilletos and sporting a pixie-like hairdo.

Stewart and Pattinson didn't walk the red carpet on the night, and were "whisked backstage, photogs trailing a few steps behind", after the unveiling of the clip.

The premiered trailer includes an introduction to the Volturi, "lawkeepers" of the vampire world and royal family of sorts, a distraught Bella (Stewart) trying to cope with life after she is left by Edward (Pattinson), and the development of her complicated relationship with Jacob (Lautner), a boy with a secret of his own.

The trailer has whetted the appetite of fans of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling series for the latest movie adaptation, and anticipation is building ahead of it's November release.

Fans were divided during their original readings of Meyer's novel, many felt themselves a part of "Team Jacob", the rest siding with the character of Edward Cullen as the love they felt right for series heroine Bella Swan. "New Moon" might see similar divisions among those who experience the story for the first time as it is presented on screen.

New Moon will be released on November 20th.
