New Muppet Movie Will Be Directed by Half of ‘The Flight of the Conchords’

According to Heat Vision, Flight of the Conchords co-creator James Bobin will be directing the next Muppet movie. Apparently, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movie were slated to direct the new Muppet adventure, but opted out after they got a deal to make 21 Jump Street.

According to New York Magazine, Bobin had a choice of either this movie with the most legendary of fabricated characters or a Judd Apatow comedy, entitled Bridesmaids. Tough choice. Bobin ultimately decided on the Muppet movie late Thursday night. Jason Segel, lead writer for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and a regular actor on such shows as Freaks and Geeks and How I Met Your Mother will help write the script. Nicholas Stoller, who adapted Yes Man for the movies and wrote Fun with Dick and Jane, will be writing for the film as well.
