New NBC Variety Special Will Be Rosie

O'Donnell will host variety show special the day before Thanksgiving.

What holiday wouldn't be complete without a network special with a very rosie host?

Former talk show host Rosie O'Donnell will be back on TV with an hour-long variety special on NBC, according to E! Online.

The show will air live, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m., and could turn into a series for the performer if the audience takes to it.

O'Donnell, who will be an executive producer as well as host for the show, was very excited about the special, saying that it reminded her of earlier times.

"This is a dream come true for any performer. Old-time variety, live from New York with a nod to Ed Sullivan, Carol Burnett and memories of Sonny and Cher."

The details are still reportedly being put together, but the show will feature celebrity guests, musical acts, and comedy skits. In true variety style, there may even be a house band.

To add even further charm to the special, there will also be prizes given away to both studio and home audience members.

Fellow executive producer David Friedman has high hopes for the show and says that crowd pleasing variety shows are destined to make a comeback.

He told the Hollywood Reporter, "This is a genre that everybody is anticipating is going to come back."

He also said that Rosie was the perfect host to help variety make its come back.

"Rosie sort of invented the daytime variety show. Without question, Rosie is the right person to bring this back."
