New Ninja Turtles Movie to Be Made
According to BBC News, a new movie is in the works for the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise.
According to Variety, the forthcoming live-action film, which will be the fifth film in the series, is scheduled to be released in 2011. The movie will center around the origins of the crime-fighting reptiles.
This report comes 25 years after the characters made their debut in a comic book series. To mark the anniversary, the first film is set to be screened at the Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday and there are plans to turn the lights on the Emipre State Building green.
Three movies were made in the 1990s, along with a popular TV series. Another TV series aired in 2003.
Scott Mednick has agreed to produce the movie along with Galen Walker, who produced the most recent computer-animated movie.
"The original dozen comics created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman are some of the best source material one could hope for," Mednick said to Variety magazine.
