New Role for Samuel L. Jackson
In the next attempt to turn a popular comic book series into a big-screen adaptation, writer and director Frank Miller turns to the popular character The Spirit, and has turned his attention toward Samuel Jackson as the possible actor who could nail a performance of the villain, the Octopus.
The film, which is set to be produced at Lionsgate with Batfilm's Michael Uslan and Odd Lot Entertainment as the producers, centers around a battle between the Spirit and his enemy, the Octopus, who is a shy, unassuming lab assistant who goes through a transformation and becomes a villain, killing anyone who sees his face or who comes into contact with his tentacles in the fictitious Central City.
Currently, Jackson is "in negotiations" to play the evil villain, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While Miller revealed that Jackson is his first choice for the villain part, he says he is still looking at many actors to play the Spirit, a man named Denny Colt who is murdered and reborn as the heroic mystery man.
