New Simpson Character for 2010
"The Simpsons" is holding a contest for one week allowing one winner to create a character for the animated TV series.
The new resident of Springfield will appear in an episode featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay as a guest star in 2010.
This contest is part of Fox's 20th anniversary celebration, for those 18 and older.
Series creator Matt Groeing and executive producer Al Jean will help judge the contest. Submissions can be made at thesimpsons.com between Friday and 11.59 p.m EDT on Oct 24.
Submissions should describe character traits, age, appearance, occupation, a name or nickname and potential catch phrase. The character should also be yellow or another color found in the Springfield world.
The winner will be announced in mid-November and will receive a trip to Los Angeles to work with producers and the show's animation director.
The first regular episode of "The Simpsons" was aired in Jan 1990 and has been renewed through the 2010-2011 season.
