New Stipulation added to 'Project Runway' show

Project Runway shakes things up.

Project Runway shocked audiences with a new clause in the competition. "Project" is now in its sixth season, and has premiered on a new network - Lifetime.

We know the normal format of the competition, that each designer on the show, vying for the title win at the end, is given a task to complete regarding a fashion design on the various models. Each model wears the competitors' design and struts down the cat walk showing it off for host and super model Heidi Klum and a panel of judges. If the design is not liked, then the designer is sent home by Mrs. Klum.

Producers decided to shake things up this season and as reported on NYTimes.com, "Once an afterthought, the models are now supporting players, selected not only for their spidery limbs and doe eyes but also for their ability to interact with their designers."

If that is not enough for fans of this show, the models themselves are given their own spin-off, called "Models of the Runway," and it follows the women around on the various tasks on "Project" and while living in a loft together in downtown L.A.

It's not that far off from the same concept as Tyra Banks's "Next Top Model," only "Models" crosses over into another show, and makes it that much more interesting for avid "Project" fans.

Regardless of what changes they made to the show and being on a new network, according to LATimes.com, this season's premiere delivered 4.2 million viewers total. This is the show's highest premiere rating yet.
