New York Fashion Week Features Tweed
According to the Associated Press, an up-and-coming trend in fashion this year will feature tweed clothing. Tweed normally evokes images of old ladies and stuffy college professors, but top fashion designers have put a modern twist to this classic material.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is currently underway and gives fashion designers an opportunity to preview their new lines to fashion editors, stylists and buyers. Top designers have created modern tweed out of unexpected materials, resulting in imperfect patterns and flexible shapes.
Narciso Rodriguez created a gray and white tweed that is soft enough to look like fur. British designer Matthew Williamson made colorful tweed with infusions of metallic. Michael Kors and Justin Timberlake's clothing lines were also previewed during the show.
People in the fashion industry still anticipate shows from designers Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen and Calvin Klein. The New York Fashion Week ends Friday Feb. 8.
