NFL Legend Pleads Not Guilty to Charges

Jimmy Smith pleads not guilty to drug possesion charges today.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jimmy Smith, 40, pleaded not guilty to cocaine and marijuana possession charges today. According to TMZ, Smith pleaded not guilty even though cops say they had found a good amount of drugs inside his car.

Reports indicated that Smith, who did not attend court this morning, pleaded not guilty to four charges including possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. Smith got lucky when Duval County officials decided to drop a fifth related drug charge.

Smith, who, when played for the Jaguars, made five straight Pro Bowls, was arrested on April 22 after officers pulled him over on Interstate 95 for having excessive window tint on his Mercedes Benz.

According to records, the police searched his car after smelling marijuana. Inside Smith's car, they found crack cocaine, as well as marijuana, in his possession.

Smith is due back in court on June 17.
