NFL Player Shot, Has Critical Injuries

He is currently in critical condition.

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier was shot outside of an apartment complex early Tuesday morning. He was waiting with a former Jacksonville teammate for two women they had met at a nightclub earlier in the night, police said.

Collier and former Jaguars defensive end Kenneth Pettway were waiting in their Cadillac Escalade when a lone gunman reportedly opened fire on the vehicle. And although it isn't clear where Collier was hit, police said that he had been hit multiple times.

Collier is currently in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, but the nursing staff, as of earlier today, has stopped giving updates.

The owner of the Jaguars, Wayne Weaver, released a statement showing their continued support of Collier:

"We're shocked and deeply saddened by this morning's news about Richard Collier. We have been informed that Richard has had surgery and he's in critical but stable condition. The entire Jaguars family is praying for Richard and his family at this time."
