Mere days after at least one draft pick and $250,000 dollars were taken away from the New England Patriots, the team decimated the San Diego Chargers by a score of 38-14. The punishments were the result of the Patriots being caught illegally videotaping the Jets' defensive signals last week.
With the Chargers out of the way, New England looks ahead to a pretty easy schedule in the coming weeks. They begin next week against the winless Bills.
The Patriots weren't the only team to improve to 2-0 on Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys had another high scoring game, putting up 37 points in a win over the Dolphins. Brett Favre and the Packers had a second half scoring explosion against the Giants, beating them 35-13. And the defending Champion Colts held on to beat the young Titans, 22-20.
Other 2-0 teams include the Steelers, Broncos, Lions, Texans, and 49ers. This is good news for the parity of the league, as fans in Detroit, Houston, and San Francisco haven't enjoyed playoff appearances by their home team in a number of years.
The Redskins also have a chance to go 2-0 if they can defeat Andy Reid's Eagles on Monday Night Football. However, this won't be an easy task, as the Eagles won both games between these two teams last year. They beat the 'skins by scores of 27-3 and 21-19.
