Nicholas Cage Owes Millions to the IRS

Academy award winner in deep with the IRS again.

The IRS is seeking more than $6.2 million from Nicholas Cage, reported the Detroit News.

The newspaper says a $6,257,005 tax lien was filed against the actor on July 14. Public records allegedly show that the large figure dates back from reported unpaid income tax for 2007.

According to Yahoo.com, the address that appeared on the tax lien was reportedly Cage's $3.55 million New Orleans mansion, which is currently up for sale along with the star's $35 million Hollywood abode.

The actor's latest IRS troubles arrive just months after settling a previous conflict with the IRS. ABC News reported that Cage agreed to pay $666,000 plus interest in back taxes penalties in September 2008, after accusations of fraudulently deducting personal expenses.

Cage's spokesperson, Annett Wolf, declined to comment, Detroit News and USA Today report.

The lien comes during a rough patch for Cage who is dealing with unfavorable reviews for some of his recent movies. Cage, 45, won the Academy Award for best actor in 1996 for "Leaving Las Vegas."
