Nichole Richie and Joel Madden Engaged

Nicole Richie and her Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden are engaged to be married.

Richie made the announcement Monday on The Late Show with David Letterman according to Us Magazine.

Madden, 30, confirmed the report on his Twitter on Monday, saying “Yep, I’m engaged. Very Happy. We’ve been engaged for a while so you’re all kind of late on that. But thanks for the hoopla all the same.”

The two are expected to tie the knot in a ceremony this summer.

The couple began dating in December 2006 and had 2 children together: daughter Harlow, 2, and son Sparrow, 5 months.

Just last year, Richie told Larry King that she was in no rush to make things official with Madden.

“I think with both of us, we are going to do it because we want to, not because that’s what you do,” she said at the time. “We’re going to do it when the time’s right.”
