Nick Carter, musician and member of the Backstreet Boys, is already having a busy year. In addition to a concert tour featuring the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, Carter also released a solo album in late May.
I’m Taking Off hit high on the charts in Japan and features 11 of Carter’s songs.
Now, he’s offering fans a chance to get involved with his solo career as well with the opportunity to show their talents at remixing his songs.
According to a press release and website information from Nick Carter and Indaba Music, those hoping to participate have until August 11 to submit remixes of five of the album’s songs; “Love Can’t Wait,” “Falling Down,” “I’m Taking Off,” “Not The Other Guy,” and “So Far Away.”
Though Carter’s fans can vote on their favorite remixes, Carter himself will make the official decision on who the top five participants are.
Carter will pick five winners (one for each song), which will be announced on September 22, to go on an official Remix EP that will actually be released by his record label. In addition, the winners will receive a $1,500 prize and articles about them will be featured on Carter’s website and Facebook page.
Even if you’re not the official winners for each song, others still have the opportunity to be noticed for their work. Ten runners-up, which will feature two for each song, have the opportunity to get their remixes on the EP and will also receive a $500 prize and a mention on Carter’s websites.
Twenty-five honorable mentions will also be acknowledged based on the votes of fans.
For this contest, Nick Carter will partner with Indaba Music, an online music community that gives many artists the chance to collaborate with other musicians and fans to mix and edit music.
