Famed singer to play a newlywed baseball player for the WB

It is breaking news and it is official: Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have separated. This recent news has not kept America's favorite husband from the newlywed scene though. Lachey is set up to play a baseball player who is newly married in a pilot for the WB.

The show will start shooting in April and be ready for the 2006 fall lineup. Co-creator of the hit show "Mad About You", Danny Jacobson, is set to write the half hour long series. As of yet the show is untitled and is initiated through a growing relationship Lachey has with the WB. After a stint guest starring on "Charmed", a hit series on the WB, Lachey signed a development deal with the network. Along with the new upcoming show, Lachey is set to release a second solo album as well as talks about a 98 Degrees reunion.
