If you are like me, you probably remember being glued to your television, enthralled by Nickelodeon programs like All That and Kenan & Kel. The network is now caving into our nostalgia in the same way TV Land caters to our parents’ childhoods. The network announced plans yesterday to revive programs like these for a 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. block of re-runs of these shows.
According to The Examiner, the block will be called The 90’s Are All That and start this fall.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Keith Dawkins, senior VP and general manager of TeenNick, said, “At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11 ... It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23, and 24 want to bring that back.”
It was also announced that Nick at Nite, Nickelodeon’s late-night block, acquired the rights to air classic sitcoms Friends and Yes, Dear, according to Centre Daily. Friends will start airing in September, with Yes, Dear not starting until 2012.
