Nicole Kidman Fights Violence Against Women

Hollywood star Kidman wants to stop violence against women.

Queen of the red carpet, Nicole Kidman is a woman with a cause, not afraid to speak her mind. This time she sets out with an agenda to end violence against women everywhere, reports the Associated Press.

As a wife and mother of two, with a third baby on the way, Kidman's priorities very much lie with her family's well-being. She feels particularly strong about the matter as she wishes to secure the best possible future for her children.

The Hollywood queen appeals to leaders and people everywhere to unite and stop the violence once and for all, according to the Associated Press.

Kidman has carried the role of a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Development Fund for Women since 2006. This position will surely aid her in her campaigning. According to People.com, Kidman stated, "Obviously, I'm emotionally connected to this. . . . I'm a mother. I have a child on the way. A lot of it is realizing the things that are wrong and [pondering] how can I contribute to help my children have a better life?"

She also added, "One in three women will encounter violence in some way, shape or form against them in their lifetime. . . . That's an extraordinary statistic. Yet do we ever hear it?"
