No ‘Breaking Dawn’ for ‘New Moon’ Director?

Director says he doesn't know if he could do another 'Twilight' movie.

Chris Wietz, the director of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, told MTV he doesn’t think he’s got another Twilight film in him.

“I'm on record saying I have a 2-and-a-half-year-old son, and each one of these movies — especially because it'd be such a long shoot as 'Breaking Dawn' — it kind of brings me to the edge of my physical and mental endurance,” Weitz said.

The studio hasn’t released any details about when we’ll see an adaptation of Breaking Dawn, the last book in Stephanie Meyer’s series, but there has been a lot of buzz about splitting it into two films. That’s what’s happening for the upcoming Harry Potter and films, so it’d be keeping in line with a Hollywood trend.

Before jumping into the world of vampires, Weitz was known for his work on The American Pie film series. While those films have been relegated to straight-to-DVD releases for years, in February, Weitz spoke to MovieWeb about working on a new, theatrical installment. The new film is tentatively entitled American Reunion.

Whether or not Weitz returns to oversee a fourth (and possibly fifth) installment of the Twilight saga, Eclipse, will be in theaters June 30. In the meantime, you can catch stars Robert Pattinson in Remember Me starting March 12, and Kristen Stewart in The Runaways starting April 9.
