No KIDding Matter: Kid Rock Gets Sued
Kid Rock sure saw "the light" on February 16 when he was in Tennessee to perform his song "I Saw The Light" during a memorial service for songwriter Merle Kilgore. No, the rock star didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel, but rather the light of police officer's flashlights when they arrested him for allegedly punching a disc jockey at Christie's Cabaret adult entertainment club. Jerry Campos of Cedar Hill, Tennessee is suing Mr. Rock $575,000; $500,000 in punitive damages and $75,000 in compensatory damages. The singer pleaded no contest to criminal assault and was given a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days in jail on Monday. He also was ordered to complete eight hours of anger management classes and pay $180 to replace Campos' eyeglasses. For all the money Mr. Campos stands to win from Mr. Rock, the glasses better sport 24-K gold frames.
