No more cha-cha for Manilow
Singer to have surgery on both hips
Barry Manilow won't be doing the meringue or cha-cha for a while.
Manilow will be taking a break from his Las Vegas show in order to have surgery to repair torn cartilage on both of his hips, his publicist told the Associated Press.
Manilow, who has a four-year contract with the Hilton hotel in Las Vegas, suffers from labrum tears in his hips - a painful condition exacerbated by his high-energy performances, publicist Carol Marshall said in a statement Sunday and reported by the AP.
Manilow will continue performing though his Emmy performance Aug. 27, after that he will have the surgery. He is expected to be out of action for eight weeks, according to the AP.
