No Watchmen 2

Star stomps hopes before the first one is even released.

Don't expect a second Watchmen any time soon.

In an interview with Moviehole, Jeffrey Dean Morgan revealed that a sequel is unlikely for the film, despite the sequel options in the contracts for the cast. The only way Morgan sees the film continuing in the future is as a prequel, and would only remain attached if director Zach Snyder was involved.

"It'd have to be a prequel. But I'd say unless [comic book writer] Alan Moore says he's gonna write something, we'll never see Watchmen 2," he added.

The likelihood of that happening is close to zilch considering the bad relationship Moore has with Hollywood, which can count From Hell and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen among the adaptations of his works.

Another big nugget that Morgan revealed was Snyder's possible role in a future "Batman" film, adapting The Dark Knight Returns. Snyder sees Morgan in the title role, but Morgan is not seeing himself in the Bat-suit just yet.

"I don't think [Warner] will do it at the moment, not with what The Dark Knight is doing. But the studio loves Zach, and if Watchmen does as well as we hope it does, you never know, he might get a crack at this thing," Morgan tells the Web site.

Expect Watchmen everywhere March 6.
