Nobel Prize for Literature to be Announced
The Nobel Prize for literature is to be announced amid controversy
Although the Nobel prize for Literature will be announced on Thursday, members of the institution seem more concerned with last year's weinner, Austrian feminist writer, Elfriede Jelinek. The attack was launched by academy member Knut Ahnuld on Tuesday, saying that awarding Jelinek the prize damaged the awards reputation. Ahnuld, 82, who has not actively participated in the academy's work in 9 years, said he would now quit the lifetime panel, according to the Associated Press. Permanent academy secretary, Horace Engdahl, pointed out that Ahnuld's resignation would not effect this year's award because he has been inactive for so long.
