Noel Gallagher Leaves Oasis

The lead guitarist said he has quit the band due to not being able to work with his brother, Liam.

Noel Gallagher, lead guitarist and songwriter for Oasis, quit the band in Paris on Friday.

According to Rolling Stone, Gallagher announced his leave just before the band was due on stage at a concert in France. He and his brother, Liam, had a fight backstage, thus leading to Gallagher's quitting and cancellation of the rest of the European tour.

Reuters reports that Oasis would have played in Germany on Saturday and Italy on Sunday, and Friday's concert in Paris was sold out. Gallagher apologized on the band's MySpace Web site for cancelling the tour after writing, "It's with some sadness and great relief that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

Oasis was founded by the two brothers in 1991, Billboard reports. The band's latest album, "Dig Out Your Soul," scored the fifth spot on the Billboard 200 last October.
