Not in Love with guitar Hero 5
Courtney Love, widow of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, has sent out many a Tweet on her role in her late husband's likeness being used as an avatar for Guitar Hero 5.
Love had maintained contradictory statements, at first denying she had anything to do with Activision, the company producing the game, then admitting she had spoken with them.
So would Cobain hate Guitar Hero as much as Love says? The world will never know. Love had also stated she never approved the avatar likeness of Cobain to Activision, but many speculate that it's not the game Cobain would be opposed to, rather that the likeness needs to be tweaked a bit.
Finally, later last week, Love's attorney explained everything. The thought is that while using the name and likeness of her late husband has been approved, the idea of Cobain singing Bon Jovi songs (by using his avatar) is "...exploiting Kurt's image in a manner anathema to the very essence of his music, spirit and essence."
I get where she might be coming from, but as a lover of all things Guitar Hero, I don't really care who the avatar is, I just want the best guitar.
