Novelist to Make Appearance on TV Series

Author behind 'True Blood' to appear on series

HBO's latest hit show, "True Blood," was inspired by a book series by Charlaine Harris. And although the second season, which starts this month, goes farther away from the books, the New York Daily News reported that the author will be making an appearance in the season finale.

Series creator Alan Ball said that he and Harris keep in touch, although they don't talk very much about the show.

"She actually is going to come out and do a cameo probably in the last episode of the season," he said.

The show, starring Anna Paquin as a human and Stephen Moyer as a vampire in a town where the humans and vamps try to coexist, came about at a time where vampires are all over pop culture.

But "True Blood" doesn't have a whole lot in common with "Twilight," the book and movie that started the craze. For one thing, these vampires are certainly not abstinent. Also, Ball says that season two will explore the "power of cults."

"True Blood" returns to HBO June 14.
