NY Fashion Week Moves To Lincoln Center
New York Fashion Week finds its new home.
Bryant Park was the host home of those famous runway shows for 15 years.
On Tuesday Fern Mallis, the senior vice president of IMG Fashion, who produces the show said that the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will move to Lincoln Center.
The new location has 25% more room than the Bryant Park as it is 87,000 square feet although it is a bit farther uptown.
"It has not been easy to find a place for us, a place that was big enough, that was centralized enough, that was right enough," said designer Diane von Furstenberg, CFDA President. "Since we're starting fresh we will try to make them better than the previous one".
"The fashion industry is a vital part of our city's economy, providing more than 175,000 jobs and generating billions of dollars in wages for New Yorkers annually," Bloomberg said in a prepared statement, according to Bloomberg.com. "Ensuring the industry's long-term success and promoting Fashion Week -- the industry's greatest showcase -- is more important than ever as we work to retain and create jobs during these difficult times."
