O’Brien to Take Show on Tour
As part of his $45 million severance package with the NBC Network, former late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien agreed not to appear on television until September. Instead, O’Brien has revealed that he plans to hold a live comedy show in 30 different cities starting in April. The show is entitled, “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television,” and he has announced that he will address his removal from NBC’s The Tonight Show.
According to Reuters, “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television” is being described as a live comedy show that will feature a night of music, comedy, hugging... and the occasional awkward silence. The former host will be accompanied on stage during his performances by fellow comedian Andy Richter as well as his former Tonight Show band.
O’Brien provided a message for his followers on Twitter in response to his announcement which reads: “Hey Internet: I'm headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour…I repeat: It's half-assed." His tour is slated to begin on Monday, April 12th in Eugene, Oregon and he will travel to other major U.S. cities and cities in Canada such as Toronto and Vancouver.
