Obama boosts Leno's ratings

Despite his low approval ratings, President Barack Obama’s appearance on The Tonight Show Tuesday drew a huge audience.

Tuesday’s installment drew a 52 percent increase over Jay Leno’s rating average this season. It was also the highest rated installment of Tonight since Leno returned to host the show March 2, 2010.

This was Obama’s fourth appearance on Leno’s show. He discussed issues such as the death of former Libya dictator Muammar Gadhafi and his dislike for the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

He said that Gadhafi failed to take advantage of the chance to let his country peacefully transition into a democratic government. The dictator was ousted from power in September before his death at the hands of rebels on Oct. 20.

Obama also commented on the Republican presidential debates.

"Once they narrow it down to one or two (candidates), I'll start paying attention," the president joked.

President Barack Obama's approval ratings may not be great, but he can still draw a TV audience.
