Obama Cancels "SNL" Appearance
After the loads of destruction Hurricane Ike caused last night and this morning (well over $1 billion, some estimate), Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has pulled out of his scheduled appearance on Saturday Night Live.
The show, being hosted by Michael Phelps and with musical guest Lil' Wayne, will still go on without the senator. The Democratic presidential nominee's spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, told the Associated Press that the Obama camp said that it wouldn't be appropriate because of the hurricane's damage.
In addition, the hurricane may force the show to take a more serious opening in its season premiere.
"If it's serious, it will change everything for us," the show's creator and producer, Lorne Michaels, told Politco on Friday. "The tone of the show will shift, and it would be inappropriate for the senator to do if it looks in any way like it's going to be a tragedy."
