Obama Regrets Allowing the Media "Access" into His Family Life

Barack Obama admits to having second thoughts about allowing "Access Hollywood" a window to view his family.

When Barack Obama's family appeared on the popular entertainment show, Access Hollywood, it allowed viewers a rare opportunity to witness how the presidential election was affecting them.

It also afforded potential voters the chance to hear from Obama's two children, Malia and Sasha, and gauge their thoughts on the presidential race.

While this chance may have proven fortuitous to some, it is not an experience that Obama wishes to repeat, as he made it clear that he "regrets" the media's contact with his children.

According to USA Today, Obama admits to having "second thoughts" about the interview and has expressed his desire to "keep his children out of the spotlight" in the foreseeable future.

As to why Access Hollywood even conducted the interview in the first place, Obama admitted, "It was Malia's birthday, we were in Montana and everyone was having a good time; I kind of think that we got carried away with the whole situation."

Obama's regrets are attributed to the cable stations' airing the interview everywhere, to the point that it has become out of control for them, and his convictions that this type of media exposure is detrimental to the well-being of his children.

According to USA Today, Malia mentioned during the interview that her father sometimes "embarrasses" her, referring to a time that he chose to shake a friend's hand rather than simply greeting her. She, along with Sasha, also mentioned what makes her parents angry: whining and arguing with one another.

Interviews like these will allow voters to garner a greater understanding of Obama's life outside Washington; however, if he finds the process problematic now, it will only become worse should he be elected.
