Obama Visits Senior Center to Reassure Citizens About Health Care

President Barack Obama paid a visit to a senior center on Monday to speak to senior citizens about the benefits of health care reform

President Barack Obama visited an Ohio based senior center on Monday in an attempt to reassure senior citizens that health care reform would benefit them. President Obama made a speech to appeal to seniors with a final vote in Congress scheduled to take place in the immediate future. The proposed health care legislation is expected to clear the House of Representatives by the end of the week, according to Chron.com.

Today’s speech in Ohio marks the third occasion that President Obama has made an out-of-town visit to attempt to generate support for his administration’s attempted overhaul of the current health care system. During his speech, Obama spoke to those in attendance by saying, “I know we've got some seniors with us today so let me just tell you directly: this proposal adds almost a decade of solvency to Medicare.”

Obama went on to appeal to seniors by saying, “This proposal will over time help reduce the costs of Medicare that you pay every month. And this proposal would make preventive care free so you don't have to pay out-of-pocket for tests that keep you healthy.”

Chron.com is reporting that health care reform protestors showed up several hours before President Obama arrived and held up signs that featured statements such as ‘Don’t stick me with your Obamacare’, ‘Obama care, it’s to die for’ and ‘Start over’.
