Obama's Style Recognized by Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair released its 70th annual International Best Dressed List including both Obamas among the fashion elite.

Both Obamas were recognized for their international fashion sense in Vanity Fair's 70th annual "International Best Dressed List."

Although it was the first time the president made it onto the list, Michelle Obama's name has appeared on the list twice before. Amy Fine Collins of Vanity Fair told MSNBC that part of Michelle's fashion success is her ability to mix J. Crew pieces with designer clothing. Indeed, Collins continued saying that Michelle received the most best dressed votes.

Michelle Obama's French counterpart, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was on the list as well. Collins explained that both women are in similar situations: "They are both young, in their 40s. tall, good-looking, and the world is watching."

Unsurprisingly, Brad Pitt also was on the best-dressed list, but, surprisingly, Angelina Jolie failed to make an appearance. However, A-list actresses on the list included Penelope Cruz and Anne Hathaway. Also mentioned were Kelly Ripa, Alicia Keys, Princess Letizia of Asturias, and Tory Burch.

This year, Renee Zellweger and Catherine Deneuve were added to the list's International Hall of Fame.

Vanity Fair's September issue, in which the International Best Dressed List is published, hits newsstands on August 11.
