The OC Recap
This episode starts with Seth and Summer staring at Ryan and Sadie and coming to the conclusion that they're a hot couple because Summer reads the magazines about what stars' body language means. So she knows.
Sandy has to cancel, or postpone as he says, his dinner plans with Kirsten so Seth volunteers to be her date. They go watch some Japanese fighting movie and Kirsten says she gets to pick what to do on their second date.
She ends up taking Seth to an AA meeting, which no one knew she was attending. Seth is tempted to leave, but Kirsten convinces him to stay. He's even there to witness her receiving her nine-months-sober pin, which she dedicates to Seth because he's the reason she started going in the first place. She couldn't stand the look on his face when they had the intervention for her.
Matt is fired and reveals to Sandy that he knows things and will use it against him and his hospital project. The man Sandy is working for finds out and has Matt beaten senseless and has his apartment trashed.
Summer finds out Marissa is ditching plans with their parents to hang out with the "Surf Nazi" AKA Volcheck. She calls Seth for help because Marissa's on a "slut spiral" and they need Ryan's help.
Julie claims she's in love with Dr. Roberts by telling Kirsten that she'd live in her trailer if that's what he wanted, but then looks a little too excited when she buys fancy things to put in the house and realizes she's living large again.
Summer finds Marissa sitting on top of her car at school like a hood ornament with a flask in one hand to which she asks, "Oh, you getting drunk?" "More like staying drunk," Marissa replies.
The two end up getting in a big fight and it doesn't appear like it'll end anytime soon.
Ryan meets with Volcheck under the pier and tells him that he's done looking after Marissa and that it's his job now.Sadie sells her aunt's house and tells Ryan that she's leaving because there's no reason for her to stay. She can't stay for someone who's distracted.
Seth then convinces Ryan to ask Sadie to stay because he can see that he really likes this girl and he's a better person with her. He goes with flowers in hand to her house, but finds out she already left hours ago for Oregon.
Summer and Marissa have another fight and she again calls Seth. "The slut is still spiraling," Summer says. "I thought I told you to talk to Ryan?"
Volcheck starts asking Marissa questions about herself, appearing to be interested. She tells him that if she wanted to be treated right she wouldn't be with him. He's over the chivalry in like two seconds and goes back to his usual self.
Marissa finds out, through Ryan, that Sadie left and somehow manages to find her before she's completely gone. She tells her that she should stay because she makes Ryan happy. She does a good job convincing her.
Sadie ends up coming back and waiting for Ryan in the pool house. He kisses her and asks what he has to do to get her to stay. She says, "I think you're already doing it."
The episode ends with Marissa snorting some type of drug with Volcheck. Hey, at least he exudes good influence.
