'Octomom' May Lose Home

Mother of 14 children is behind on payments.

Nadya Suleman, the woman who gave birth to octuplets last year, may be kicked out of her home for being behind on her mortgage payments. She is living in the home with the eight infants, as well as her six older children. Each of her children are the result of of in vitro fertilisation.

From The Washington Post: “Mortgage holder Amer Haddadin says he is starting foreclosure proceedings on the $565,000 La Habra residence because the family hasn't kept up the payments."

His friend and adviser, Ramsey Masso, said Friday that Haddadin signed over the home to Suleman's father last year.

“Ed Suleman, who leased the home to his daughter, was supposed to pay about $4,000 a month and a final balloon payment of $450,000 that was due earlier this month.”

Suleman has become controversial since the birth of her octuplets, a new take on the mythical “welfare queen,” that stirred public anger in the 1980s. She’s been interviewed in many magazines, and appeared on Dr. Phil.
