The Office Recap: The Sales Team Rules
There are tensions in the office between the Sales staff and everyone else because of Sabre’s policy that Sales is the most important and everyone else should be supporting them. Even though they should probably be following new protocol, the other workers do have a point because the Sales staff is constantly walking around on hands-free phones and bossing everyone else around.
Michael, annoyed at these new rules, decides to take matters into his own hands. The Sales staff is waiting for new leads from Sabre which will help them make more sales. When the leads finally arrive, Michael refuses to pass them out.
Instead, he gives the leads to the other workers in the office and tells Jim, Stanley, Phyllis, and Andy that they’ll have to figure out where their leads are and bargain to get them back. This of course angers the Sales staff.
Phyllis’ leads have been given to Angela who is not particularly happy with Phyllis who refuses to answer her emails, so she makes her do pointless paperwork before thinking about handing over the valuable information.
Andy is luckier. Erin has his leads, and she hands them over without very much trouble, most likely because she’s crushing pretty hard on him.
Stanley’s leads are with Ryan and Kelly, and as he sits and listens to them argue with each other and takes sides with one or the other, they hand his leads back one at a time.
In an attempt to be clever (which is really just stupid), Michael has hidden Jim’s leads and given him clues as to where they are. For example, he’s put one of them in a jar of Italian sauce, and one is under a car.
When Dwight comes back from a sales call, he’s furious that no one has notified him that the leads are in. He demands to have his, but Kevin was in charge of hiding his. After almost choking Kevin, Dwight learns that Kevin hid them in the trash can in the break room, but when he goes to find them, they aren’t there.
It turns out, the trash has already been emptied to the dumpster. As luck would have it, it’s trash day, so Dwight’s leads are on the way to the dump. Dwight and Michael head to the dump to search because Dwight doesn’t trust Michael to go alone.
After Michael accidentally dumps some gross looking water on himself, they realize that it’s going to be impossible to find the leads. They head back to the office but not after salvaging a beanbag chair from the dump.
At the end of the episode, Erin and Andy take a trip to the dump, and they share their first kiss amidst the trash.
