The Office Spin-Off Casting News
The ball has started rolling in the production of the heavily criticized The Office spin-off.
The first cast hire comes in the form of Aziz Ansari, who stars in MTV's sketch-comedy show, Human Giant. At this point, producers of the show are quiet on what Ansari's role will be pertaining to the development of the show, but he is the first piece in a large ensemble cast based off of The Office.
The spinoff's executive producers, Greg Daniels and Michael Schur (who plays Dwight's brother Mose on the show as well), signed Ansari to a one-year talent hold, meaning that he cannot work on anything but Universal Media Studios projects.
"We met him pretty early on and thought he was very funny," Daniels said. "We loved his work in Human Giant, which I'm a huge fan of, as is Mike, and we have a good character for him."
Beyond that statement, not much else is known about the show, so stay tuned for more news on The Office spin-off.
