Ohio police chief convicted of breaking into Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate's house sentenced to two years
According to Usmagazine.com, Police Chief Barry Carpenter has been sentenced to two years and eight months in prison following his conviction on Nov. 23. Allegedly, he broke into the house of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's surrogate mother, Michelle Ross, who had given birth to twins for the couple.
Allegedly, he broke into Ross's house in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and stole property relating to the surrogate. According to police, he conspired with another officer to sell the items to the paparazzi.
According to wbztv.com, Carpenter's attorney, Dennis McNamara, is going to appeal the conviction. The chief was convicted of receiving stolen property, theft in office and evidence tampering, but was acquitted of the count of burglary.
A special prosecutor in the case said Carpenter could have received up to six years in prison. The judge in the case noted that he had received several letters in support of the police chief regarding the case.

Horrible what people will do
Horrible what people will do for money! Shame on him!
They have to be punished like everyone else
I think the punishment was fair.Just because SJP and her husband are celebs it doesnt give anyone the right to break into their home and try to take property for extortion purposes. It is wrong. They are paid to uphold the law not break it.I hope that it was worth it now your career is gone.
