The woman accused of physically abusing students at Oprah Winfrey’s school for girls in South Africa has been acquitted of all charges, leaving Winfrey “disappointed” by the court’s decision.

The Associated Press reports that the school’s former matron, Tina Virginia Makopo, had been accused of attempting to molest the girls as well as physically abusing them. Nine students testified against Makopo, but a spokesman said Monday that she was acquitted.

Winfrey, who was abused herself as a teen, stated she was “profoundly disappointed” by the decision.

The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, which cost $40 million and opened in January 2007, is a 22-acre campus complete with a library, wellness center, and computer/science labs. About 300 girls from all corners of South Africa attend the school.

The academy has faced multiple scandals since it opened. In addition to the claims made against Makopo, several of the girls in 2009 were accused of sexually harassing fellow students.
