Oprah Named Most Powerful Woman in Entertainment
Oprah Winfrey has been ranked as the most powerful woman in entertainment on the Hollywood Reporter's Power 100 list.
The Power 100 list, part of the Hollywood Reporter's 17th annual Women in Entertainment issue, honors 100 women in the film and television industries.
"The decision to place Oprah at the top of the list was based on her dizzying array of Oprah-branded media and her immense cultural influence," the Hollywood Reporter editor Elizabeth Guider said.
Winfrey, who serves as chairman of Harpo Productions, has been bumped up from her previous #6 spot on 2007's list.
The rest of the top five includes, in order, Anne Sweeney, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks; Amy Pascal, chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group and co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment; Nancy Tellem, president of CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group and Stacey Snider, co-chairman and CEO of Dreamworks.
