Oprah Speaks Out Against Domestic Violence

Oprah tells Rihanna that Chris Brown "WILL hit you again."

It seems everyone is speaking out against Rihanna's decision to stay with abusive boyfriend Chris Brown. Oprah Winfrey shared her motherly advice this week, according to N.Y. Daily News.

"If a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again," said Oprah on Friday.

The severity of the abuse, although seemingly taken lightly by the pop princess, is not underestimated by either Oprah or other parties such as former sex-crime prosecutor Linda Fairstein of New York. Fairstein compares the situation to O. J. Simpson's trial in 1994.

"Many of the circumstances in her case were like the early warning signs in the O. J. Simpson case," said Fairstein.

In response to the recent drama surrounding the celebrity couple, Oprah decided to dedicate a program this week to the discussion of domestic violence. Oprah has been an influence for strong, successful women since her daytime talk show aired in 1986. Using issues and events, like Rihanna's case, as leverage to expose societal problems is what she does best.
