Everything Oprah touches turns to gold. O, The Oprah Magazine, Harpo Films, Oprah's Books, and of course her talk show have been unrivaled successes. She is one of the most powerful women in the world.

It is only natural that Oprah's empire continues to grow. The latest addition? OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

It was announced today that Discovery Communications made a deal with Oprah for her own cable channel. Oprah has total editorial control of the network, officially named The Oprah Winfrey Network LLC.

In a statement to USA Today, Oprah said of the venture, "For me, the launch of 'The Oprah Winfrey Network' is the evolution of the work I've been doing on television all these years and a natural extension of my show."
