'Our Little Genius' Prompts FCC Investigation

It looks like Our Little Genius might not have been about such little geniuses at all. Fox is currently the center of a Federal Communications Commission inquiry investigating possible violations of federal regulations on quiz shows.

The program, which would feature children ages six to twelve being asked questions of increasing difficulty, was pulled from Fox's schedule only a week before it was due to air.

Allegations began after the father of a potential competitor on the quiz show reported to the FCC on peculiarities about how contestants were being coached for the show. While there have been no reports that the children were given any answers to questions, apparently producers went to great lengths to ensure that contestants were very familiar with subject matter that they would be quizzed on during the show.

Parents were even allowed to help select questions, it seems. "They asked us to evaluate topics and questions to be used for their show, and they removed several topics that I found objectionable," wrote the father who filed the complaint.

Fox has not made an official decision as to whether the show will still go on the air.
