Over the Hill
Fox has decided that after 13 years, they are not picking up King of the Hill. The show has become the second longest running animated show behind The Simpsons. Sure, King of the Hill may be a little too mature for some audiences, but for many this show was a mirror to the working class. The show began in the same year that Roseanne ended; similar working-class family and family troubles.
There's a point when you realize, "This show is good, and we have nothing really to replace it at the moment." But why would you place the show at 7:30? Even a show like America's Funniest Home Videos, which gained more popularity from a YouTube society, reels in viewers from the idea of America winning money. CBS's 60 Minutes is one of the longest running news programs. It just was due time for that show to go in the wayside.
I'm surprised King of the Hill survived so long on Fox. It would be a perfect show for cable channels like FX or even Cartoon Network. It would garner decent ratings as a cable show, and would probably reach a better target demographic.
There was nothing bad about King of the Hill, but like The Simpsons, the show slowly started to waver in both writing and popularity. The Simpsons got a resurge from a movie, but it wouldn't work with Hill. Some shows have to end and this one is long overdue.
