Owen Wilson Hospitalized for Suicide Attempt?

Actor admitted to Cedars Sinai on Sunday, asks to heal in private.

Not much is known about Owen Wilson's hospital stay over the weekend. And the actor would like to keep it that way. "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," Wilson said in a statement released through publicist Ina Treciokas, reports Reuters news service.

The Oscar-nominated star, 38, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills on Sunday. Fire and police officials would not confirm the star's identity, only conceding that they had received a call from and responded to a "medical aid" situation at the actor's home. However, a spokesperson for the hospital confirmed that the patient admitted was indeed Wilson. The Dallas, Texas native's family, including his parents and brothers Andrew and Luke, were spotted entering the medical facility.

Several tabloids such as "Star" and "The National Enquirer" cite unnamed sources claiming that Wilson attempted suicide. Wilson allegedly slashed his left wrist and took a number of unidentified pills in an effort to kill himself, says ABC News.

Wilson is best known for comedy hits such as "Wedding Crashers" and is also a former Oscar-nominee for co-writing 2001's "The Royal Tenenbaums" with director friend Wes Anderson.
