Padma Lakshmi Signs On To Do A Sitcom

Bravo Host is planning to star in a NBC sitcom.

Variety is reporting that Bravo's "Top Chef" host, Padma Lakshmi is planning on joining a sitcom for NBC. According to the magazine, the host has signed a deal with Universal Media Studios. They plan to create a half-hour comedy for her. Charlie Corwin has signed on as the executive producer.

Reportedly the show will be much like the basis of the reality show she hosts: Lakshmi will star in a show based on a woman working in the cooking world. Yet, reports indicate that Lakshmi and Corwin are still working out the specifics.

Aside from hosting the popular reality show, Lakshmi was seen in the ABC miniseries "The Ten Commandments," features "The Mistress of Spices" and Boom" as well as a role of a singer in Mariah Carey's "Glitter."

Lakshmi and her "Top Chef" co-host, Tom Colicchio, just received an Emmy Award nomination in the reality competition host category.

Season six of "Top Chef" will air next month on Bravo.
