Palin and Wahlberg Appear on SNL
After weeks of being parodied by comedic look-alike Tina Fey, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin appeared on Saturday Night Live to set the record straight and boost ratings.
Actor Mark Wahlberg, who was parodied in a skit last weekend entitled, "Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals," also showed up to the SNL studio to exchange words with comedian Andy Samberg, who portrayed Wahlberg in the skit.
Palin and Wahlberg both appeared in the opening skit. Palin discussed Fey's portrayal of her to the show's producer, Lorne Michaels, and said she did not believe Fey's portrayal was accurate. During the skit, an angry Wahlberg asked Michaels where he could find Samberg to "bust his head open," a play on Wahlberg's publicized outrage over the skit.
Fey's 30 Rock costar, Alec Baldwin, entered the skit and mistook Palin for Fey, referencing her media nickname of "Caribou Barbie." After Michaels introduced the two, Baldwin told Palin she was "way hotter in person."
Palin delivered the famous opening line, "Live from New York, it's Saturday night." She also appeared in the "Weekend Update" segment while Amy Poehler delivered a rap about the Alaskan governor.
Wahlberg appeared in a second skit where he confronted Samberg, delivering on his promises made earlier this week to confront the comedian. To make light of Wahlberg's anger, the skit included the actor talking to a donkey and then telling Samberg he did not see a likeness between him and Samberg's portrayal last week. No physical violence occurred between the two.
