Palin to Appear on Letterman Tonight?
I don't know where everyone's interest is at this point in time dealing with the election.
It seems like it's been going on forever (especially to those living in Iowa, as I currently am, typing from my top floor apartment), but Sarah Palin seems to have injected some adrenaline in the election process.
And then there's been the whole Tina Fey parody of her, which has exploded.
While her emergence on the scene has been great, the fact is that she's not running for president. John McCain is.
Many will tell you that he won the last presidential debate last night, something worth arguing about, and he'll try to capitalize on his performance tonight (Thursday) with an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.
It's the same program that he blew off three weeks ago, which led to Letterman ripping McCain for the remainder of the week.
The thing that might ease the tension, one would think, would be for McCain to arrive with Palin, America's sweetheart (well, maybe Republican sweetheart, depending on who you talk to).
Letterman hinted that Palin might show up on last night's show.
"[McCain] hinted when I talked to him on the phone that maybe he'd be bringing Sarah Palin."
"We know that's not gonna happen," Letterman added, getting a huge laugh from the audience.
"Was that a hint or was that more of a campaign promise?" asked band leader Paul Schaeffer.
"I think he was trying to make me feel better," Letterman said. "Like, 'Oh, I know we've got the hook in Letterman now.' But I don't think she'll be here. Miss Alaska will probably not be here."
"That would be nice if she came, though," Schaeffer said.
"Are you kidding me?" asked Letterman. "How great would that be?"
Tune in tonight at midnight ET to see if Palin shows up with her running mate.
