Palin's a Tweeter

The Alaskan governor joins the popular site.

Alaskan Governor and source of Tina Fey's SNL mockery, Sarah Palin, has become . . . a Tweeter. According to TheHuffingtonPost.com, the governor is now part of the popular site which allows people to post updates on their private lives. She will join the many famous members, which include Ashton Kutcher, Tila Tequila, Jane Fonda, John McCain, and his daughter, Meghan McCain, who is a very active—and political—Tweeter. Even though McCain is overtly political, she says that Palin is the "only part of the political campaign that I won't comment on publicly." This will give the governor a chance to spread her messages to the public, without fear of being slandered by the media, much like she and her family were during the presidential campaign.

Palin began Tweeting on April 29, and kept it simple. "This is my official Twitter feed – from here I'll provide updates on issues concerning Alaskans," she wrote. She's updated seven times now, and has garnered over 14,638 followers, though she herself is only following 42. Not surprisingly, one of them is John McCain. Another is famous show host Bill O'Reilly, though his appears to be a fake.

The governer is a bit late in the game, as Twitter has taken everyone by storm towards the end of 2008. Since that time, several people have launched faux-Palin feeds, and strangely enough, two of them have more followers than Palin's actual feed. Even though Palin has joined the Twitter craze, it is unlikely she'll surpass—and garner the same amount of attention as—Ashton Kutcher, who has over a million fans.
