Paramount announced late Tuesday that the studio has decided to change the date for the new release of James Cameron’s Titanic in 3D. The date shift moves the April release up by two days, likely to give it a chance to make even more money before the end of that weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new release of the winner of the 1998 Oscar for Best Picture was originally scheduled for Friday, April 6. Now, the film will be released on Wednesday, April 4.

The move will give the new release a jump on that weekend. It won’t have too much competition that weekend anyway, notes Cinema Blend. The only other films scheduled for that weekend are The Cold Light of Day, a thriller starring Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver, and another American Pie sequel titled American Reunion.

The original 1997 release of Titanic went on to gross an amazing $600 million in the US alone, which was a record at the time. The film stars Kate Winslet, who was nominated for Best Actress, and Leonardo DiCaprio, so fans of the film will now get a chance to see it again in 3D.

Paramount also announced two other date changes. A Thousand Words, a family comedy with Eddie Murphy, will now be released on March 20, instead of April 9. The film will now have to compete against Disney’s John Carter.

Jeff, Who Lives At Home will be released on March 16 instead of March 2. The Duplass Brothers-directed film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and stars The Muppets’ Jason Segel. It will still only receive a limited release.
