Paris Pleads Not Guilty to DUI Charges

The hotel heiress says it was a craving for burgers that led to her arrest.

Following her arrest last September, Paris Hilton pled not guilty through her attorney Tuesday to two counts of driving under the influence.

A pre-trial hearing was set for Jan. 23. If found guilty, Hilton will likely face fines or probation, although a maximum penalty includes a $1,000 fine and six months in county jail.

Hilton was pulled over last fall for erratic driving. She failed a Breathalyzer test, although publicist Elliott Mintz claims it was "probably the result of an empty stomach and working all day and being fatigued."

The actress-singer called in to Ryan Seacrest's L.A. radio show the next morning, saying all that she was trying to do that night was get a burger.

"Maybe I was speeding a little bit," Hilton said on the air. "I was just really hungry and wanted to have an In-N-Out burger. Everything I do is blown out of proportion."
